Mailchimp Integration

We've integrated Hanover and Mailchimp so you can use all of their advanced features with no monkey business.

Once you’ve successfully linked Hanover and Mailchimp, all new applications inside Hanover will automatically be added to an Audience inside Mailchimp.

You can then use Mailchimp’s advanced email features to create beautiful emails, automate when they're sent and track their performance.

You can even use your Hanover substages as triggers 👍

Here’s how to get started...

Things you’ll need;

1. Access to a Hanover Admin account.

2. Access to a Mailchimp account.

3. Coffee ☕

Step 1 - Getting The Right Information 📋

In order to take advantage of Hanover’s Mailchimp integration, you need two things from Mailchimp;

1. Your Mailchimp API Key

2. Your Mailchimp List ID

Don’t worry, they sound more complicated than they are 👌

1. Getting Your Mailchimp API Key 🔑

If you want to set up an integration with your Mailchimp account, you'll need to generate an API key. Users with Manager permissions can generate and view their own API keys.

• Click this link to navigate to the API Keys section of your Mailchimp account: Your API Keys

• Copy an existing API key or click the Create A Key button.

• Name your key ‘Hanover Integration Key’, so you know what application uses that key.

2. Getting Your Mailchimp Audience ID 🧬

A critical first step to getting started with Mailchimp is setting up your audience. Your audience is where you’ll store and manage all your contact data. Here’s a great guide to creating an Audience in Mailchimp if you haven’t done it already.

Each Mailchimp audience has a unique audience ID (sometimes called a list ID) that integrations, plugins, and widgets may require to connect and transfer subscriber data. The audience ID is generated by our system when the audience is created and cannot be changed.

To find your audience ID, follow these steps inside Mailchimp.

• Navigate to the Audience tab.

• If you have more than one audience, click the Current audience drop-down and choose the one you want to work with.

• Click View Contacts.

• Click the Settings drop-down and choose Audience name and defaults.

• In the Audience ID section, you’ll see a string of letters and numbers. This is your audience ID.

Step 2 - Linking Hanover & MailChimp 🍌

Now that you have your Mailchimp API Key and your Audience ID, let’s link Hanover to Mailchimp.

Follow these steps inside Hanover.

• Click on ‘Admin’ from the menu and then ‘Mailchimp’.

• Paste your Mailchimp API Key and Audience ID into the relevant fields.

• Hit save.

All of your participants inside Hanover will then be automatically synced with your Mailchimp Audience. This may take up to 60-minutes so please be patient.

Step 3 - Celebrate 🎉

Congratulations!! You’ve now successfully linked Hanover and Mailchimp!

All of your existing and future participants applications will automatically be added to your Mailchimp audience.
